Welcome to Bath Artist Printmakers.
We are a co-operative printmaking workshop, run by the members, offering a friendly, supportive and creative studio in which to create hand made art prints. We are on the ground floor, in the heart of bustling Larkhall, within easy reach of the city by local buses. There is also on street parking in the area if you travel by car.
The studio offers facilities for intaglio including aquatint, lino and wood-cutting and drypoint, monoprinting and basic screen-printing. We have two large presses, a Rochat suitable for etching and drypoint and a Bewick and Wilson for lino, monoprinting, collograph and other techniques. We have an acid cupboard, with mixes suitable for copper and zinc etching, together with a walk-in aquatint booth.
Transition to Less Toxic Methods
At BAP we are conscious of the health and safety implications of traditional etching processes. Recent graduates applying for membership will probably be familiar with less-toxic methods such as saline sulphate etching of aluminium or zinc plates using virtually non-toxic household products and acrylic resists. Essential materials for this are supplied in the studio and members are actively encouraged to use them. Individual guidance can be provided. We welcome contributions and suggestions from members to improve practice in this area.
For more information on printmaking techniques click on the Techniques link above.
We stock a good range of printmaking papers, including Somerset and Fabriano, which are sold to members at cost price, and we supply all black ink and all other necessary mediums and equipment for printing, free of charge.
We offer two levels of membership – Full Members and Day Raters – for details go to our membership page
